Getting started

Why involve people living with Dementia?

Involving people living with dementia in research is about building relationships and sharing knowledge to shape more meaningful, inclusive, and impactful work. It brings together lived and learned experience; creating insights and understanding that no formal training can replace. When people with dementia are involved, research becomes more grounded in the realities of life with dementia, more responsive to people’s needs, and more likely to lead to change that matters. Involvement also recognises people with dementia as active contributors in their own lives and society and values their voices as essential. At its heart, it’s about learning with and from each other, creating research that not only informs, but connects, respects, and transforms.
