TREE: Trust, Respect, Empathy & Experience

Inclusive involvement in dementia research

About us

We are a group of people living with dementia, carers and researchers. We work together to strengthen public involvement in dementia research. Our aim for this resource is to support values-based practice, which we describe using the image of a tree.

Values are the roots of good public involvement practice. The branches represent different ways people can work together. The leaves show what can grow from partnership, including knowledge, connection and understanding.

Our resources

We have gathered and created this content to support researchers, involvement facilitators and members of the public involved in dementia research. These guides and materials draw on insights from a national survey and structured conversations with researchers, involvement facilitators and public partners. Together, they reflect accumulated shared learning and are designed to foster values-based involvement grounded in respect, inclusion and collaboration across all stages of research.

Resources for researchers and facilitators

These resources are designed to help researchers plan, deliver, and evaluate involvement that is inclusive, creative, and grounded in shared values.
